Just played most of your content, and it looks good to me. Ill be keeping an eye out for this. i already liked on steam Greenlight. I hope it gets approved, i will buy it.
I did notice one thing, though it may just be because i'm running a 4k rig and the game doesn't support the upscale, but there's a line that splits the screen when moving through Mays room. But, this is only when scrolling through the room. i will try and downscale my resolution and see if that solves the issue.
Also, Autumns animation seemed less fluid compared to May and Arlene. Otherwise the animations are great.
Don't give up this project!
*Update:
Tried Down-Scaling and it did not solve the issue of the line while proving the screen in Mays room.
I love the look of this, though I hope you reconsider not putting in any adult content. An occasional bit of nookie would be nice in a dating sim. The animation that Jasonafex did for the "How This All Happened Bonus Scene" would be a perfect little addition, with some other options (particularly after watching romance movies!).
could you make a download thats not .exe? because my anti-viruses are blocking it like its the devil. so could you make a version for .jpg or something?
You can bypass the anti-virus warding, usually the button isn't obvious since they don't want you clicking it instinctively. You could also white-list it.
JESUS.This game is the continuation of a rather clumsily made and designed fury porno film (trailers for proof here #1 & #2 ) correct me, please dear god, If I'm wrong.
Not really, I just had the models laying around from a cancelled project and used them for this proof of concept. Except Autumn, that model was made specifically for this.
I was going to do the full game with entirely new characters but people really want May in it.
I strongly thank you for clearing that up, It was honestly needed in case someone else stumbled upon the other animations; the resemblance is still uncomfortably close. Profit?
I figured most people would be led from that to this, not the other way around. In any case a lot of people seem to have no problem finding that movie. Sales have increased.
I've been looking for an answer to why this happens sometimes, but no luck yet. I put some code in there to help fix it and it hasn't happened to me since but I guess I missed something.
Can you describe what happens for you?
Booping will happen in the full version when I can give it some effects.
In short: It's as if the program doesn't realize that you have changed the window size / dimensions; therefor, it doesn't move or resize any of the models, the text, or the background images correctly back to where they're supposed to be.
Probably something weird to mention but is the Bathroom model different from the default model? For some reason I get the feeling it is slightly off from May's default.
I bought this and it says not available on windows... So what is this for linux?or is this Unix?(macos) Because I bought this based on the fact it seems to be a windows game. Id feel terrible asking for the dollar back but still would like to know how to play it.
Edit: It seems the itch.io launcher doesnt see this as a playable game and I had to go to the purchases page manually and download the .exe. Thats misleading as it is for windows they need to fix that for .exes that dont need installing.
really enjoying the new demo! I've noticed that you can't order food after meeting Arlene but it's the end of the demo so I don't care...
But, what I don't understand is, both Arlene & Autumn have an animation to "draw your attention" two questions for the future: why are they randomly doing it and why isn't May getting territorial about it, at least looking at them funny or even having the look of "wtf are you doing Arlene you slut" would be interesting, Lel. Also congrats on development, I see a solid future for this!
Only think that got me was, and I'm not trying to be a perv here, the excessive fog in the bath/shower scene. I understand you're trying to keep it at least in the G to PG range, but its actually kind of distracting having nearly a quarter of the screen whited out like that.
That's honestly my only gripe. Otherwise, I really look forward to how this progresses.
The fog is fairly random, Sometimes you see a little more then other times. Still, the sprite itself has fog drawn onto it so you'll never see the goods :P
Enjoying the new content(10Jan demo), but the bugs are getting bad…
It looks like "blocking content" features are the thing that makes bugs a real problem. After just a few days May always gets into a "food is on its way" state that blocks movies and showers, and I haven't figured out a way to escape. Maybe it's always triggered by the waking-up line "Whacha wanna do today?"? With the first demo, the movies being blocked off was a problem, and sadly that seems to still be a thing. I'm not that familiar with Game Maker, but it looks like flags are able to be set by a bunch of things they shouldn't be? You could try redundantly clearing the "food is on its way" flag when sleeping, frex, but the movies I'm not so sure about. OTOH, getting the shower scene when leaving May's bedroom for the hallway is always a laugh :)
Love May's animations, now that she does them <3
Interestingly, I kept mixing up Arlene and Autumn, until they showed up in the game, then suddenly not a problem. Probably the "first letter rule" in action. You may want to make sure the player sees them early, enough to get a feel for who they are.
It, ah, seems a little weird to have a substantial arc about one of the UI features being disabled, ne? O:) And, aren't phone chargers basically just USB mini(and derivatives) nowdays? Despite those two, I'm liking a lot about the phone charger arc :) But it does seem weirdly like Arlene is the focus of new instances of May calling the player male: "Arlene's away at some weirdo convention and she's got this guy's phone charger.", "He does, but he's been here all weekend.", "You DID have to borrow his after all.", "He does, but for some reason he never charged it after he went home.", etc.
I gather this is intended to be a non-exclusive relationship? It'd be nice to know if that was intended, or just a result of the characters having OOC history… ("At least I thought I was." Heh.)
The first demo had a lot of lines in the "talk" option, even if they were pretty aggressive about provoking bugs, but in this one talking to May seems to always(except for plot) get "We have a lot of the same tastes, you know?". It has a second line that only plays if it's going to get stomped by food, which begins "Not that I'd mind if you liked other things, just an", but I dunno the rest. Maybe that's the first "talk to May" line, and nothing else comes up because the first one doesn't complete?
There's a lot of typos and other misspellings(normal for a pre-alpha demo), but "bad segway" conjures quite the mental image :3
You have a pretty good idea of what's going on, not sure how it got out of whack though. Every food related flag resets when you sleep so it must be the wait time (which gets shorter every day) going crazy somehow.
The demo is basically done after 3 days and there's only two meals so I might as well skip the food at that point honestly.
And yeah, that was intentional.
Not sure how you're only getting that one dialogue. It should only play once and only under certain circumstances. There are actually a lot of conversations to unlock now. I can't seem to reproduce this bug, if you have any more details let me know.
The gender choosing thing I mentioned before is a planned feature for a full game, this is still just a proof of concept.
I removed the food event after day 2. Originally it just went by quicker after you already had that meal but you were 100% right. It's just annoying at that point.
Personally, I kinda like doing chinese food twice, once when it's May's idea and once when it's my idea, and the first time going the route where she says "I'd love you even if you were fat" to me, then the second time saying it to her :J However… maybe "let's just get something from the fridge" should be a food option, which just has her go "eh sure" and then fade to black and back? That way the player can skip it unless they want it :J (It also seems weird to get delivery every day.)
I'm not sure the delay serves any purpose; after the initial look around May's room, there isn't much to do other than the things that are blocked while food is coming, and things that are on their own timers.
Also, this is a pre-beta demo so eh, but personally I like to shower before breakfast, if it isn't a perfunctory "grab a bar on the way to the shower". Maybe make the doorway to the kitchen clickable? There's a problem that shows up in Don't Starve and in the Zelda games: It's not fun to do something if you have to do it, even if it would otherwise be fun. The food being "on rails" may be the main reason it's not fun.
I, ah, often play for a dozen or so in-game days, so that may be part of why I found the "food is on its way" issue O:J (Also, there are some lines from Arlene that I normally don't see until the fourth or fifth day, and I planned on watching every movie with May.) I'll check tonight whether the timing is related to meeting Arlene, as Dig-Bick found.
I do remember getting another line via "talk" to May, and I think that time the food came before I could ask about her game collection(love the things she has to say about some of them :3), so maybe clicking on the games puts that one "in front", and it never completes so it never leaves the front? I'll try it tonight.
Listing the gender-marked lines was more intended as a reference you could look at when you do implement the choice. Games that retrofit gender choice tend to leave a lot of things still assuming male >_>
That's when the textures load. I don't think there's a way to do it nicely in Game Maker. The way GM handles images in general isn't really suitable for this type of game so I'm probably gonna move to Unity which has more compression and streaming options.
Yep! Since I gave the option to pay for downloads there have been plenty, and also some others donating to my paypal.
I'm working on a new teaser demo that's a little more deserving of so much generosity, then I'll probably move on to something I'd feel comfortable actually expecting money from.
Oh, wow! This is actually pretty cool! I'd love to see where this game goes in the future, but I know one thing for sure about it: You have to keep developing it! I sorta even like the fact that it's post-date, and just a casual relationship with someone else. Amazing work! I'll support, definitely!
I'm glad this game got some attention drawn to it. I hope there's more to do than just the dating sim as well. No game has anything after the dating part is over and many gamers wish there was a little more after that.
That mostly because that's what dating is all about to get the girls of your dreams. And when you have it then it ends right there, but you are right the real dating is just beginning after those game end. Now you have your lady, and you have to keep her happy by being a good BF. But it's not dating since it the second base and it more like a relationship between 2 furs then it's dating.
Not sure exactly what's going on with the main characters just yet, but species isn't something that would be addressed in the dialogue. Keeps things a lot more simple.
I'd say this isn't a dating sim yet, but it's better than a dating sim! I would love a game that spent less time on(or even skipped over) the "get a date" stage, and more time on the "been dating a while" stage :) Maybe a "what level do you want to start on" kinda option?
The demo has very limited content, and the usual supply of demo bugs(May often stops reacting and just keeps playing her base idle animation, one time watching the first Godzilla movie blocked watching the second, and try talking to her with the speech bubble in her room then over the next few days try watching movies), but it's already at the "where did my hour go" level :)
On the subject of dating sim mechanics, the big one is covered by the TVTrope RelationshipValues. (Really, you can learn a lot about any media genre by spending a saturday afternoon looking it up on TVTropes.) One way to think of it is: How much does she think you're a goofball? How much does she like goofballs? How much does she think you're a gentleman? How much does she like gentlemen? Etc.
A trick with idle animations is to make sets of 3(or more) sub-animations that can all tween into each other, then after each sub-animation pick a random one to go next. 3 idle sub-animations like this will look better than one idle animation 3× as long.
Any plans on adding chargen, at least a gender choice? As a lesbian, every time she referred to me as "guy", and every time the mouse dude appeared in the shot and I had to remember that's supposed to be me, it was jarring.
That's a lot to put on one man but it would be nice to have such a dating sim with that level of detail, might I add. Maybe it would be feasible if he had more than just himself to work on this? #donate_to_this_game
Hm. I think the level of detail is fine; the demo intro blurb mentions "haven't personally played a lot of dating sims so any input will be extremely helpful", so the para on RelationshipValues was intended as kind of a crash course on the subject.
On donation, I'm waiting for something more trustworthy than PayPal, I've had problems with them in the past. Also I've already spent my discretionary budget for the month, and I probably won't get approval to go over that for a video game. But the demo's already good enough I plan on setting aside some of next month's for when another way opens up :D (Hint hint, Terence ;)
I'm actually removing all the non-first person stuff from an upcoming demo since it doesn't quite fit with the rest of it. Not sure where she addresses his gender, maybe she says "dude" at some point. In any case, May is down with girls too which is something that'll be addressed in the next demo.
Any plans for a full on game are still up in the air, so thanks for the feedback!
Sweet O:) Welcome and thank you for working on this! :)
I played through the demo again, and here's the mentions of his gender I found:
"Jealous? I may have a couple dozen "hazubandos" but I've only got one "booifurendo"."
"Hey, how about you go on the "you already ate and don't get a say in what I have for dinner" diet, Mr. Healthy. I'm hungry for pizza."
"What? It's a thing, Mr. Health nut. I saw a guy do it on the internet. In fact, there's your diet right there. Degrease that sucker."
"Aaaand, you're still carrying an empty backpack and a map… OK dude."
The one I was thinking of was a reply option early on: "It's just a map. A guy can't have a map?" I guess in my head I turned the others into callbacks to that, sorry. (She also refers to Wilson as "guy" once or twice, I probably put him and the mouse dude in the same mental bin.)
I'm not sure about this one, but together with the others it feels like it contributes: "Plus if we were both fat our bellies would smack together when we do it." I could go into details, but… yeah.
Finally, the general stereotype of "you're supposed to like action movies, I'm supposed to like romance movies" seems gender-based… especially since May ends up liking the action movies far more than the romance movies.
(I really do miss her reactions every time I encounter that "no animations" bug <\3)
So far the plan is for each character to have at least one outfit per season, not sure yet how the player character will be handled but gender will definitely be an option and it will factor in to the planned social simulation.
I take it there was more to enjoy? How lame... I was hoping there was more than just about 4-6 minutes worth of game there. Maybe I'll revisit it again later.
You know something that would really make this game interesting and/or would pull even more people to play it? If you added some depth of detail to the game; as in the text saying just little things going on around you? Maybe alternate endings of sort? Or, if you had something going on in the background, such as little Snippets of some story going on, that could make it Much more interesting to some.
I've never personally liked that sorta thing. That's a very "visual novel" thing to do I suppose but I'm going to try the "show, don't tell" approach more often then not.. That's also the reason the protagonist is completely silent unless there's a dialog option to choose.
I'm gonna try to have a lot of interaction and background details that change such as weather, kind of like how I have the time of day right now.
Good idea there. Just protect the "illusion of choice". Every game developer has to make or fake it or else the player will feel controlled no matter the game. Undertale and the certain Telltale games are both good story-driven examples that I can think of because they'll almost always have the same ending. Here's a link to better explain it for everyone........#donate_to_this_game
For a full on game I have a plan to manage this sort of thing, but there will be somewhat pre-determined stories since a computer couldn't exactly write a compelling narrative. Those stories might have certain dialogue added depending on player choices to give the illusion that it's totally dynamic.
Bad Example: "Remember when we were "insert place here" and we had that conversation about "insert thing here?" It was "insert weather" that day, I felt "insert emotion here."
Meanwhile, the main story is somewhat on branching rails Telltale style with the side content being actual dynamic social simulations.
I know this is only a demo, but I feel like it missing a lot. Like a menu could be nice and to turn down music would be nice too. Some emotion sound would be cool too, and I feel like the text is in Low quality it looks blurry, and i feel like there were some gramma errors also. But I'm a furry, and I love furry games, and I would love to see a full version of this game. I am going to post a playthrough of this on my youtube channel, so you welcome to check it out. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheDanishFurryGamer
Correct me if I'm wrong... but from the looks of it, this is more of a pre-alpha type of thing, but I was told that he was putting a lot more into this. a kick-starter would be nice; right now, however, all we have is his PayPal account which is "matthew@deathonfrontier.com" if you don't believe me, just look down 17 comments/ replies.
The word Demo comes from the word demonstration if it a pre-alpha, alpha or a beta doesn't matter it's still a Demo. Besides, I can only give info out from the demo since I don't own or don't know what's in the final version of the game since to what I know off, no info is giving. Besides he doesn't need a kick-starter, he can use patreon like most people do today or use https://www.indiegogo.com/ I know many use that one too as a Kickstarter. I'm already Contribution to a Campaign called Them's Fighting Herds on there, so there are many ways to do it. Also, I know his Paypal already I did read all the comments on here.

Tried Down-Scaling and it did not solve the issue of the line while proving the screen in Mays room.
Can you post a picture and your PC's specs maybe? I'll see what I can do to fix it.
Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero
Samsung 950 PRO Series - 256GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD
Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SATA III
Intel Core i7 6700K 4.00 GHz Unlocked Quad Core Skylake
EVGA GeForce GTX 1080, 8GB GDDR5X
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz
Heres my specs
FINALLY. Links.

I thought he was going to have adult scenes in it?

.jpg? Like an image file?
You can bypass the anti-virus warding, usually the button isn't obvious since they don't want you clicking it instinctively. You could also white-list it.
So this is a furry dating game?
This. is. LEGENDARY!
so is the full game going to be free or no?
If I finish according to plan it'll be a relatively cheap game with plenty of value in it. If not it'll be free/pay what you want.
ok cool love the game and the animation keep it up
*Uncontrollable laughter* XD This game........bruh, i'm about to die, this is too good!
Can't wait for your let's play.
Just wanted to say I love the game so far. I also did a video on the update. Can't wait for the next one.
I'm glad somebody finally dug into some of the situational dialog!
Tried to cover as much of the demo as possible. :)
I only see an empty post, could you repost your specs?
You must scroll up a little bit, because I've send 2 posts. The empty 1 & that one with specs.
Good Evening. sure I did but with invisible Ink. Understand? XD
Okay, I post them but don't know why they're not visible.
Lunchtime or CoffeeTime. Are you alright? Here're my PC Specs:
LunchTime. How's going? I can't play the game because the screen's white and I can't see anything. Could you fix that with the next update, please?
Does it do anything else or is it basically not booting?
Also, could you post your PC's specs?
Morning or Lunchtime. It boots but only what I see's a blank or white screen.
You can't, because my PC's by my grandpa at the moment.
The food sequence doesn't happen after day 2. The delay is the game getting stuck in "talk" mode and fixing itself, I'll look into that.
I can't reproduce the shower things, it happens every time for me. Could you give more details?
Where can I find the full game? Or is it still in development?
The final version hasn't technically started development yet.
What did you fix in the new update beside the new cool studio intro.
The most recent update only fixed a glitch with the fullscreen scaling, the one before that added a toggle option for the post processing.
Oh, and more original music by @marufawks
Nice
I made an account just to comment on this. I think we have a real gem that I can't wait comes to fruition! Also, please keep May, She is very cute
Thanks! She's definitely staying.

At least now I know why she brought up that cave in the "Talk" option.
Yeah. Arlene also said "Things didn't get weird between us I hope. After...you know?" I'm sickened... but curious.
How the *bib* did i miss that O.o i so wanna buy that.
I know me to >.>
Word to the wise: going full screen is a Bad idea; everything breaks. also, still can't boop anyone. still a good demo

Whoops, I was working on some scaling stuff and I left some code in there. Uploading a fixed version now.
Probably something weird to mention but is the Bathroom model different from the default model? For some reason I get the feeling it is slightly off from May's default.
Nope, same model.
Probably just my screen messing up than... it does that for some reason. Weird resolutions problems with it.
Uploaded a fix for that. I just accidentally left some scaling code I was working on in there.
I bought this and it says not available on windows... So what is this for linux?or is this Unix?(macos) Because I bought this based on the fact it seems to be a windows game. Id feel terrible asking for the dollar back but still would like to know how to play it.

I actually had no idea that there was such a thing as itch.io launcher.
I'll look into this with the next update so it recognizes it correctly.
Something to do with love
Que chevere!
I made a vidoe over the new demo i really like it so far.

There's history between the characters you can get more detail on through conversations. Nothing is fully spelled out but everyone is pals.
I'm planning on keeping these characters around, but the full game will have more "territiorial" gals.
Maybe a little more polish on this demo, but nothing major. I'm not building on this demo for the full game. I might not even use the same engine.
woah. That's big news if that's true. what's your start profit goal?
Not sure what that is exactly, but I haven't though about anything involving money just yet.
Love what I see here so far. excellent work!

Good Evening. When's the fullversion out?
I have no plans yet, just ideas. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them!
Evening. Yeah, you could with the next Demo Update activate the Settings menu & the backpack.

Gonna make use of the "let's not eat" option instead of making her force it I think.
The space bar was actually a debug thing I forgot to lock off.
Working on these bugs now, should have an update in a bit.
Edit:Uploaded a new version that should fix all these issues. Also added more dialogue.
That's when the textures load. I don't think there's a way to do it nicely in Game Maker. The way GM handles images in general isn't really suitable for this type of game so I'm probably gonna move to Unity which has more compression and streaming options.
You sooo need a banner or cover!
Well I'll be... There's your banner for ya!
I hope more people have been supporting this.
Yep! Since I gave the option to pay for downloads there have been plenty, and also some others donating to my paypal.
I'm working on a new teaser demo that's a little more deserving of so much generosity, then I'll probably move on to something I'd feel comfortable actually expecting money from.
You make it, We'll buy it.
This is fun although after two weeks I would think Arleen would come back with my charger. I mean her head is probably in a bucket somewhere now.
Hey, the animations in this are suuuper sweet! Did you use Live2D to make them or are they animated by hand or some other way?
The characters are modeled and animated in Blender.
Kind of curious if the finale version will allow for the male to be human or not. It would be interesting to see the shift in dialogue from that.
Not sure exactly what's going on with the main characters just yet, but species isn't something that would be addressed in the dialogue. Keeps things a lot more simple.
Thanks a bunch!
Wow, this is beautiful <3
I was definitely considering hiring another artist for stylish character designs.
I got your Christmas present by the way, definitely the best one I got this year. Thank you! It means a lot.
So there'll be no cut-scenes of May and the player? Or are you making it so you just can't see the player in cut-scenes?
Just for this teaser demo for now, there will definitely be more movie-like cutscenes in the final game to go along with more character options.
(I really do miss her reactions every time I encounter that "no animations" bug <\3)
two questions then; will you be able to pick your characters "look" or gender? Also, is May only going to have that one outfit?
So far the plan is for each character to have at least one outfit per season, not sure yet how the player character will be handled but gender will definitely be an option and it will factor in to the planned social simulation.
This little game was... interesting to play. Tried to see what all it offered, had a bit of a blast. Wish it had more going for it.
Wow, you got that shower glitch worse then anyone I've seen yet.
I take it there was more to enjoy? How lame... I was hoping there was more than just about 4-6 minutes worth of game there. Maybe I'll revisit it again later.
There wasn't that much more, no worries. There will be an update.
No worries. Send me a message on my channel and I'll revisit it and try to spread the love. I'm intrigued with where this 'could' go.
Undertale and
thecertain Telltale games are both good story-driven examples that I can think of because they'll almost always have the same ending. Here's a link to better explain it for everyone........#donate_to_this_gameFor a full on game I have a plan to manage this sort of thing, but there will be somewhat pre-determined stories since a computer couldn't exactly write a compelling narrative.
Whoa, you donated again? Thanks again!
If I decide to do crowdfunding I'll make sure you get the appropriate reward tiers with no extra contribution necessary.
I don't know how you'd be able to do that but cool, thank you
I understand and I like your thinking; I don't know how to draw support to you yet so I'll just keep donating.......#Donate_to_this_game
I've already got way more support then I was expecting. This was mainly just a pitch game to get people on board for a bigger game after all.
I'm interested to see more. Make sure you get the word out when you next release an update. Heck, even a call for testers would be great. Good luck!
I second this!
